An old house somewhere in rural Louisiana. .......

Even though I think of most old houses as rare surviving examples, this old house truly is one! I am trying not to over state how important I feel this house is, but it is, and has been, continuously occupied since it was built around 1830. The current owner tells me that his grandparents bought the house, then his parents lived here, and now him. (He's in his 70's) He never married, so he lives alone. The building has never been moved, and has changed very little since it was built. More importantly, many of the furnishings belonged to his mother (perhaps some were even his grandmothers!) What exists here in this house is a social history of at least three generations. I believe to be as close as I will ever get to seeing how people used to live in these old houses.
