AILLET HOME
Port Allen, LA
Before move
Before move
The Aillet house was moved from a previous location along the Mississippi River south of Port Allen. It was constructed ca. 1830 and sat largely unaltered for many years until it was donated to the West Baton Rouge Historical Society and moved to a new site. It is a beautiful example of a house type in transition from the early Creole floor plan to a newer "Anglo" inspired style.
