An old lite? Every now and them I come across something extrodinary. This lite was in a closet in a house in Plaquemine, LA. It had been built prior to electricity, but soon after it was built electricity was installed. Some 75 years later it was still working! This bulb is hand blown.
Historic Archaeologists bring another level of understanding to an old house. Keep in mind that if the house is still on it's original site, all the archaeology is still there in the ground.

This is what happens to most old houses; they dissapear into the landscape, undocumented, lost from the historic record.
Do you know how rare old barns are?
A rare picture. The caption reads "ruins of an old Acadian house". It was taken by Sidney Marchand of Ascension Parish, probably in the 1930's. He was the author of "Acadian Exiles in the Golden Coast of Louisiana. (1943).
