Donaldsonville is one of my favorite small cities as it retains a large stock of old houses still in their neighborhood context. It also has many corner stores. Many of these are waiting for new owners to bring them back to life. I use the word diversity to describe Donaldsonville as it is a nice mixture of people who live here as well. The modern world has not intruded too badly in their historic core and thre seems to be a growing interest and vitalty which is encouraging. I have a few clients and they are young professional people. Great restaurants; John Folse's Lafitte's Landing, the Grape Vine (of Cafe des Ami in Breaux Bridge fame) as well as local down home places.
