WHAT IS AN OLD HOUSE?:
Old building or historic house; it's all the same to me.
If your house is in south Louisiana there is one thing most old buildings have in common; they have a crawl space. If we limit our selection to wood frame houses, for example, (and not in the city of New Orleans - which is an Island unto itself) then most old buildings have a crawl space. Commonly called wood frame or just frame, they are built completely of wood and sit on a foundation of masonry or brick piers. The "big ones" called colonial, have a full story made of brick, the small ones have piers.

The date range is broad, 1770 - 1945 (and a little beyond).

This is one of the Grand old ones, called Parlange in Pointe Coupee Parish. It has a ground floor composed of brick walls which enclose many rooms. The floors are brick paving. The upper floor is of timber frame construction.
